A new graphic from Visual Capitalist and Zero Hedge reveals how the Opioid crisis is behaving just like a pandemic, and it is progressively and exponentially getting worse since 1999. In 1999 the Opioid Pandemic kicked off with the proliferation of synthetic opioids being prescribed for chronic pain, and there were several thousand deaths back then. By 2004 there were over 10,000 opioid overdose deaths per year, and now as of 2019 it has grown to over 50,000 opioid deaths per year in the United States.
The analysts who made this graphic argue that the Opioid Pandemic has come in 3 waves, just like viral outbreaks like the Coronavirus come in different waves, with wave 1 starting in 1999 with mass prescribing of synthetic opioids for chronic pain, wave 2 kicking off in 2010 with Heroin overdoses surging, and wave 3 being a massive surge in deaths due to the potent synthetic street opioids Fentanyl and Tramadol. The analysts also suggest that wave 4 may be starting due to the proliferation of Carfentanil, which is 100X stronger than Fentanyl.
The key point here is that the Opioid Pandemic is getting exponentially worse over time. Considering this, the government’s approach to handling the Opioid Pandemic is simply not acceptable. Right now there are lots of rehab programs, and Methadone and Buprenorphine is widely deployed to ‘cure’ opioid addiction. The fact of the matter is that none of the officially mandated treatments are curbing the Opioid Pandemic, since Methadone and Buprenorphine are highly addictive and dangerous synthetic opioids and do nothing to cure an addict. Indeed, the official treatments of Methadone, Buprenorphine, and Rehab, are only making things worse and accelerating the Opioid Pandemic.
It is clear that the strategy to fight the Opioid Pandemic needs to be completely revamped, otherwise it will get worse and worse until there’s hundreds of thousands of deaths per year.
It seems the obvious solution is Kratom, which has been scientifically and subjectively proven to be a cure for opioid addiction. It is likely that if rehab programs and other opioid dependence treatments integrated Kratom, then the Opioid Pandemic would start to truly be suppressed.
Of course right now it seems almost impossible that the government and Big Pharma would embrace Kratom, since it seems they have an evil plot to make the Opioid Pandemic worse by continuing to flood the country with prescription opioids, and offering treatments like Methadone which clearly don’t work. However, this cannot go on forever. The data in the above chart shows that the Opioid Pandemic will eventually get so bad that the powers at be will have no choice but to embrace a solution that actually works, and that solution is Kratom.
